Sustainable Success
Our work begins with the end in mind – a sound sustainable resource management plan “owned” by our clients and constantly measured for performance and results. We design and direct the change using our Roadmap to Sustainable Resource Management Planning but successful organizational and culture change must be embraced by the client for lasting success. Working in this highly collaborative way we have helped clients achieve the following.
- Development of a solid business case and value proposition to win support from highly skeptical CEO’s and CFO’s who prior to our work did not view sustainable resource management as a mission critical business strategy
- Resource consumption reductions of as much as 20 percent, more than $2 million over a three year period for some of our clients.
- Placing organizational accountability for sustainability in the Executive Suite in Corporate Finance rather than distributed out into facilities management or support services.
- Helping secure hundreds of thousands of dollars in utility incentives to support resource management initiatives.
- Supporting building performance and tune-up efforts where clients consistently see $100’s of thousands of dollars in operational cost reductions through no or minimal cost operating practice changes.
- Securing executive support and funding for a new position of Strategic Resource Manager – even when a hiring freeze was in effect.
- Instituting sustainable resource management tracking systems so building owners see exactly where their energy dollars are going and can track the savings. One client has seen $60,000 in savings – and growing daily – in five months based on one simple, no cost building automation system change.
- Establishing resource performance goals for design and construction projects – i.e. operating costs of X per sq. ft for completed building
- Requiring vendors to calculate LCCA with their bids and detailing resource consumption cost and potential savings.
